Another New Site Design

Don't crap your pants.

Yeah, I changed the look around here a bit. First off, I’ve tested the new layout on Explorer 5.x+, Netscape 7.1, Mozilla Firebird, and Opera 7. If you’re using one of these browsers and the site looks all wonky, please let me know. If you’re using a different browser (particularly older Netscape or Opera browsers), god help you.

Why redesign the site again you ask? Well, remember that I use this site as a learning tool for new geeking skills; in particular, this new design is completely XHTML 1.0 and CSS 2.0 compliant, and I’ve incorporated digital licensing using Creative Commons (see the little logos at the bottom of the page). The XHTML/CSS approach will let me quickly and easily (read: “literally, in minutes”) create printer-friendly and PDA-friendly versions of the entire site. It also increases rankings with search engines. And the licensing stuff lets visitors know how they can use any of the writing on the site.

What? Why are you looking at me like that?

Oh! You want to know what’s in it for you? Don’t worry, I gotcha a little sump’n-sump’n. By switching to XHTML/CSS, the pages are half the size of the old HTML pages: that means faster pageloads! Buckle up your seatbelt! WOOOOO! WOOOO-HOOOO!!! WOOoo… uh…

Yeah.
