It’s OK to Punch Jerks

I have always had a problem with the non-violence advocates who say that no violence is good violence. A recent article in Esquire magazine speaks to my argument, that small, controlled bursts of violence can be good, not only to keep your stress level down, but also to make the average jerk think twice about expressing his inner jerkness.

No More Pencils, No More Books…

School’s out for summer. Another year over. Yesterday was the last day with the kids, and a whole bunch came by to hang out and get me to sign their yearbooks. It was great having a grade 12 homeroom; it really let me see a side of the high school experience I had missed last year.

Where Getting Up Early Got Me

Getting up earlier allows me to take the bus to work: I can read my book, listen to music, and bypass traffic jams. Despite the fact that I make two connections from my house to the school, my travel time is only about 5 minutes longer than when I drove. Plus, I save a couple hundred dollars on my insurance by taking off the work-use rider, and I’m unaffected by the spiralling price of oil. Before I went to public transit, I considered these benefits; while the idea made me happy, the reality has contributed to my contentment more than I could have anticipated.

High School Dropout Patents Hydrogen Breakthrough

It appears I’m getting into the wrong business.
