The Downside of Piracy: Watching Crapping Movies
Posted by yoursinwriting in Everything Else on August 1st, 2007
I admit my hypocrisy: I am adamantly against pirating music, but I routinely download movies off the intertubes. I have a very weak defense of my behaviour that I can outline at another time. The good news is that everything balances out in the end, and I am getting my just desserts.
Blueprint of a Break Up
Posted by yoursinwriting in Everything Else on July 29th, 2007
The mutual break up after a long relationship is a strange beast. One of you has the burden of raising the topic, of ripping away that moldy old bandaid, and the other one knows immediately, almost as the first words are out of their partner’s mouth, that This Is It, this is The Discussion. It is a relief, really. It is For The Best, really. And it is, it truly is.
How I Caught Crabs
Posted by yoursinwriting in Everything Else on July 23rd, 2007
Just got back from my week out on the left coast. The highlight of the trip was a visit to Gabriola Island, where my GF spent her summers when she was young. Although I did not catch crabs from my GF, it is because of her that I caught as many as I did.

Thank you for taking an interest in the music I was listening to. In retrospect, your disgust for NWA was just as important as your affection for The Violent Femmes.
Michael Moore’s “SiCKO” Made Me Ill

Even Cuba shames the United States. Sick 9/11 rescue workers taken there by Moore, who can barely afford meager treatment back home, received top-notch care in an enemy territory. At one point, a woman broke down in frustration when she purchased drugs that cost $120 in the US at a Cuban corner pharmacia for 5 cents.
Government Cost-Cutting Quiz

I got my first property tax assessment yesterday. It was for the entire year, and since I only received possession at the end of February, I figured my expense should be pro-rated. When I phoned the number on the invoice, and described my situation, I was forwarded to a woman who answered the phone, “Good afternoon– Tax Assessment and… (BLANK) Office?”
Your job? Guess what other municipal duty the Calgary government decided to pair with Tax Assessment.
Is Popcorn is Healthier than Oatmeal?
Posted by yoursinwriting in Everything Else on May 24th, 2007
I needed a snack today, and found that I had only two options: popcorn and oatmeal. I enjoy both these foods, and in a moment of sheer boredom, I decided to see which one was “better” for me.

The honeymoon phase is over, apparently. My new, wonderful, awesome girlfriend has requested a fatwa on my posting about her.
Laser Eye Surgery – 3 Month Followup

So it’s been three months now, and my eyes are getting better all the time. My vision is 20/20, and the haloing effect I had at night is barely noticeable.
